“Some Christians who do know Christ are in great doubt as to whether they know him. This ought not to be. It is too solemn a matter to be left to chance or conjecture. I believe there are saved ones who do not know of a surety that they are saved. They are raising the question often that never ought to be a question. No man ought to be content to leave that unsettled, for mark thee, my hearer, if thou art not a saved man, thou art a condemned man. If thou art not forgiven, thy sins lie on thee. Thou art now in danger of hell if thou art not now secure of heaven, for there is no place between these two. Thou art either a child of God, or not. Why say ye, ??I hope I am a child of God, yet I do not know; I hope, yet not know that I am forgiven??? In such suspense ye ought not to be. Thou art either one or the other ? either a saint or a sinner, either saved or lost, either walking in the light or walking in the dark.” Charles Spurgeon

Christmas Play

The Birth of Jesus as Shown by Our Kids

Matthew and Claire’s Mommy and me co-op preschool put-on a birth of Jesus play. All the cute little kiddies dressed up in outfits and took their place on stage while one of the mommies narrated. The kids were cute and overall it was a fun event. Click the slideshow button below to see the photos.

Wells of Consolation

A Gleaning from Spurgeon’s Sermon: “The Root of the Matter”

The man who is sound in the faith, and who understands the higher and sublimer doctrines of divine revelation, will have wells of consolation which the less instructed cannot know. (Vol. 9: Spurgeon’s Sermons, “The Root of the Matter”)

an important doctrine for providing comforting assurance

Spurgeon goes onto to point to the doctrine of election as not essential, but is one such example of a doctrine which provides “wells of consolation” —I heartily agree. Yes, I’m a Calvinist like Spurgeon; I certainly don’t think it’s a test of faith, but I find it an important doctrine for providing comforting assurance for the believer and correcting errors in regards to the sovereignty and holiness of God.

Studying the “higher and sumblimer” doctrines are challenging, but I’ve found the reward to be so great that I have developed a bit of an addiction to digging deeper and discovering these treasures. Sometimes people may think that I’m just trying to be right all the time, or act like a know-it-all, but the reality is, I find “wells of consolation” and wish to share it with others.

Lombardi Spot Redesign

Improved Function, Typography, Design &Organization

The new Lombardi Spot design is online. Jenn has patiently endured my long hours of tweaking away at the computer and finally here it is, a redesigned Lombardi Spot website. This is actually a step towards designing two other websites: Today’s Reformer and Jenntle Spirit. I would love to know what you think of the layout and functionality; especially if you find something that doesn’t work for you. Please feel free to leave a comment here or on Facebook. It’s past 1:00 am now and it’s time to get some sleep! smile

Morning update: If you happen to use Internet Explorer over Firefox on a Windows PC, you might notice some of the jagged edges on the header fonts. Let’s just say that Microsoft, with all the money they get from the sale of their OS, has a horrible browser in comparison to others. The current best all around browser for the Windows OS is Mozilla Firefox—and somehow they are able to do it for free. It has the better font rendering as well as better support for other things such as rounded corners, shadows, and opacity. Also, make sure to update your Firefox to the latest—earlier versions of Firefox will not show the fonts properly.
