“When men feed on the word, it is turned into a principle of life, spiritual strength, and growth within; which a taste of it only will not give. As food, when it is digested, turns into flesh and blood and spirits, so doth the word, and Christ therein, unto the souls of men spiritually. Hence Christ becometh “our life,” and “liveth in us,” as the efficient cause of our spiritual life, Gal. 2:20; Col. 3:3; and we grow and increase by the word, 1 Pet. 2:2. A mere taste, though it may yield present refreshment, yet it communicates no abiding strength. Hence multitudes relish the word when it is preached, but never attain life, or strength, or growth by it.” (John Owen, The Works of John Owen vol. 7, 31)

Family,

Matthew Stuck

Somehow he managed to wedge himself under the Step and Play.

We have no idea how it happened. He has yet to take his first crawling steps. Perhaps he was crawling when we were not looking? Or he just rolled his way in there? Or he backed his way in there. One moment he was in the middle of the floor, and the next he was stuck underneath the Step and Play.

It was funny for a while, and we laughed together with him until he started lifting his head, banging into the Step and Play.  smile

Command Leadership Destructive

A consulting firm, 5-D Leadership released has found that adopting a
command style of leadership as a general way to lead, causes widespread low
morale, high turnover, and mediocre performance.

I’m willing to bet that this style of leadership wouldn’t work well in a
family. The problem with family, is they don’t quit, you don’t fire them,
and you don’t go out of business if they have poor performance. However,
life can really turn into a living hell.

Southern Style Indian Food

That’s right. My wonderful wife Jenn made some Indian style Vegatble Curry
from a recipe found in a Southern Style magazine. Last time I was in the
South, people thought I was talking about Native American Indians when I
mentioned Indians. This wasn’t flatbread and we didn’t smoke a peace pipe
afterwards. It was some good home cooked Indian food for the first time in
the Lombardi House.

If you want the recipe, let us know. It was low fat, easy to make and
didn’t require any strange vegetables. Just some strange spices. And black
plastic spoon a little green.
