“Woe to those who rise early in the morning, that they may run after strong drink, who tarry late into the evening as wine inflames them! They have lyre and harp, tambourine and flute and wine at their feasts, but they do not regard the deeds of the Lord, or see the work of his hands.” (Isaiah 5:11-12, ESV)

A Real Christmas Story

A story with the “Christmas Spirit” that sometimes seems to be lost in all the shopping and commercialism.

A Saratoga See’s candy employee had accidentally dropped a familiy heirloom diamond ring into a candy bag. She thought it was gone forever. A week later, a San Jose lady return the ring to the woman. Read the whole story at the San Jose Mercury News. You might need a kleenex. It’s a touching story. Click Here

Family,

Photo Shoot

Matthew’s first formal photo shoot. He just might be on his way to a modeling career.

We took out a large backdrop that had been hidden in the garage and draped it from our second story loft. All the lighting is from the huge sliding glass windows that cover the front half of the room.

He’s wearing a special outfit sent to us by Moma Lynn in Alabama. In some of the photos, he’s holding a very special bear that was made for him at the Build a Bear by his uncle Jared.

Please let us know what is your favorite photo. We want to enter the best photo into the Nikon Coolpix photo contest. The winner receives a $25,000 U.S. saving bond for college. See all the photos in the gallery. Click Here

Family,

Fireside

We stocked up on firewood this winter. $55 for 1/8th a chord of oak wood from the local wood yard.

We figured it would cost us $170 to buy the equivalent amount at the Albertsons grocery store. That’s quite a bit of savings. The wood is much harder to get lit because it’s really dense solid oak. However, once it get’s going, it lasts for quite a while.

Matthew loves the fire. He seems smart enough not to get too close, but we still never leave him alone in the living room when the fire is going.

Family,

Matthew the Pilot

Somehow we missed his pilot outfit sized for 3-6 months.

It’s a little tight on him and he’ll outgrow it sooner than we would like. He looks really cute in it. There are a few more new photos of him in the gallery.

Family,

Thankful Singing

Our Thanksgiving this year was complete with a concert performance.

We enjoyed a variety of songs from my cousins in 4-part harmony. They sometimes spend their spare time throughout the year getting together around the piano and singing. Most of the songs they sang were classic R&B tunes most people are familiar with.
