“Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.” (James 1:27, ESV)

Family,

Matthew-san

The Japanese place the suffix “-san” when speaking someone else’s name as a courtousy. So why am I talking about Japanese courtousy? My co-workers in Japan were very gracious to send Matthew this Japanese outfit.

He’s even starting to pick up the Japanese work ethic. Here he is watering a tree.

He had fun running down the grass hill in front of our house.

Feminism Backfires

India has accumulated the abortion of 10 million female fetuses over the last 20 years. Each year, 500,000 female fetuses are aborted. That number is large enough to choke on. Albert Mohler in his 7/13/06 broadbast has brought up an interesting point. Feminists have worked themselves into a corner.

Feminists have long argued that women have the right to choose to have an abortion. However, now women in India are choosing to abort females and prefer male babies! If feminists speak up about this issue, then they are admitting that there are cases when abortion is wrong. Hopefully feminists will come to this conclusion and the flood gates will open such that abortion will be absolutely and legally wrong for anyone.

Christianity,

Grace Presbyterian and Community

Jenn and I have made a recent switch to Grace Presbyterian. The sense of community we have experienced at Grace Presbyterian is amazing.

In less than a couple months, we have attended a dinner and small group Bible study, another dinner hosted by a very friendly and hospitable couple, spent the afternoon with a young family of 2 adults and 4 children, plan to have a cook out with another family, and plan to have people over to our house at some time.

We are very impressed with the desire people at Grace Presbyterian have to form bonds of relationships that extend beyond the Sunday service. We hope to continue strengthening these relationships and building each other up as brothers and sisters in Christ.

Christianity,

You’re all I want

There’s this romantic worship song called “Draw me Close”, a very popular and emotional song. It’s common to hear people singing this song quite passionately during services. I’ve grown to dislike it because of the somewhat overexagerated, emotional statements made in the lyrics.

Family,

Adventurer

Matthew’s not a afraid to adventure into dark and hard to reach places. In fact, those places hold the most curiosity! Sometimes, he comes prepared with a powerful flashlight. I think this flashlight is a little big for him.
